Medina youth gridders sweep Roy-Hart: Albion takes 2 of 3 from Tri-Town

Medina’s youth football teams scored a tripleheader sweep over host Roy-Hart Saturday as the Colts won 14-0 in the Mini Division, the Broncos 31-0 in the JV Div. and the Stallions 32-14 in the Varsity Div.

Albion took two out of three from visiting Tri-Town as the Eagles won 19-13 in the JV Div. and 26-12 in the Varsity Div. Tri-Town bested the Eagles 20-6 in the Mini Div.

Medina Colts 14, Roy-Hart 0
Julian Woodworth scored on a 40 yard reverse and Logan Gray on a 30 yard run for the Colts touchdowns. Kaedon Hangartner also threw a two-point conversion pass to Brody Fry.

On defense, Caiden Class had 6 tackles, Jack Nesbitt 5 and Sawyer Kingsbury, Liam Castricone, Mavrik Hall and Ty Holmes 4 each. Gray also had an interception and a fumble recovery while Hall and Hangartner both had fumble recoveries.

The Colts are now 4-3 on the season.

Medina Broncos 31, Roy-Hart 0
Iverson Poole had touchdown runs of 76 and 18 yards and Aiden Pitts TD runs of 14 and 35 yards to lead the Broncos attack. Xander Payne also completed a pair of two-point conversion passes to Jaren Rhim and one to Anthony Monell. Payne also ran for an extra point. Poole had a total of 166 yards rushing and Pitts 110.

Defensively, Josh Wilson made 16 tackles, Poole 15, Ricky Lilly 10, Joe Cecchini and Oliver Wilson 9 each and Brandon Collins 8. Wilson also had a fumble recovery and Lilly a sack.

The Broncos improve to 6-1.

Medina Stallions 32, Roy-Hart 14
Brian Fry threw touchdown passes of 37 and 34 yards to Brayden Velia and of 45 yards to Tyler Chinn to highlight the Stallions offense. Fry also ran 50 yards for a touchdown and Sydney Brown ran 15 yards for another TD. Fry had a total of 149 yards passing, Chinn 78 receiving, Velia 71 receiving and Brown 105 rushing.

On defense, Brown made 8 tackles, Nathan Neace 8 and Emmanual Taylor 7.

The Stallions are now 5-2.

Albion JV Eagles 19, Tri-Town 13

A  goal line stand in the final seconds led by the trio of William Trembley, Bryce Froman and Jorden Ostrander preserved the win for the JV Eagles.

Chris Porter made 8 tackles, Amari Jones 7 and Michael White 4 for the Eagles defense.

Offensively, Javon Jones caught touchdown passes of 9 and 19 yards and Tyler Gibson hauled in a 74 yard TD catch from Amari Jones. Jacob Hughson, who had 34 yards rushing, added an extra point.

The JV Eagles improve to 4-2.

Albion Varsity Eagles 26, Tri-Town 12
Thomas Furmanski ran 21 yards for one touchdown and returned an interception 22 yards for another TD. Mehkyron Drisdom also scored two touchdowns on a 21 yard reception and a 22 yard run with a recovered fumble. Furmanski also passed to Kyle Woolston for a two-point conversion. Anthony Freeman had 80 yards rushing.

On defense, Bryce Kelly made 14 tackles, Drisdom 9, Feeman 6 and James Denoncourt and Rylend Callicut 5 each.

The Varsity Eagles are now 4-2.

Tri-Town 20, Albion Mini Eagles 6
Destin Brown had 36 yards rushing, including a 13 yard touchdown carry, Makyell Walker 75 yards rushing and Xavier Byrd 45 for the Eagles.

Defensively, Brown made 8 tackles, Byrd 7 and Walker 5. Brown also had an interception and Rylissa Lesczinski a fumble recovery.

The Mini Eagles are 1-5.
