Medina wins diamond battle between Yankees
The Woodroe Realty Medina Yankees defeated the Roy-Hart Yankees 5 – 2 Wednesday in local Major Division youth baseball action.
Brody Fry struck out 9 over the first 3 innings and Tyler Kroening had 7 strike-outs over the last 3 innings. He pitched out of a sixth inning bases loaded jam by notching 3 strikeouts to end the game.
Timothy Vasquez had 2 hits and 3 RBI’s as Kroening added a double and scored a run, Kolton Fletcher a double and scored 2 runs, Colton Smith a single and scored a run, and Aiden Wisniewski scored a run.
In the other Major Division contests, the Roy-Hart Red Sox edged the Medina Cubs 6-5, the Somerset Dodgers defeated the Lyndonville Orioles 18-9, the Medina Blue Jays played to a 4-4 tie with the Newfane Jr. Panthers and the Somerset Reds bested the Somerset Braves 12-3.
