Medina will host Akron in B2 semi Wednesday
Top seeded Medina will face a very familiar opponent in the Section VI Class B2 semifinals as the Mustangs will host Niagara-Orleans League foe No. 5 seed Akron at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Vets Park.
Akron advanced by blanking host No. 4 Eden 3-0 in the quarterfinals this afternoon as Mitchell Holtz pitched a 4 hitter with 7 strikeouts.
At the plate for the Tigers, Holtz and Drew Romesser both had RBI sacrifices and Kyle Swift and RBI single.
Medina, which advanced with a 10-0 quarterfinal win over No. 8 Southwestern Monday, defeated Akron twice during the N-O season by margins of 15-1 and 3-2 in 9 innings. The later contest at Vets Park was the Mustangs closest call in route to compiling a 12-0 N-O title season.
Wednesday’s other B2 semifinal will have No. 3 Roy-Hart hosting No. 7 Cleveland Hill at 5 p.m.
Roy-Hart ousted No. 6 Maritime 14-4 and Cleve Hill bested No. 2 Olmsted 7-3 in the quarterfinals on Monday.

No. 3 Fredonia defeated No. 2 Akron 8-3 in a Class B2 semifinal.
