Medina Unified wins to cap 5-0 regular season
Completing a 5-0 regular season, the Medina Unified Basketball team came from behind to defeat host Pembroke 31-20 Monday.
Pembroke jumped out to leads of 6-4 after the first quarter and 16-14 at the half. Avion Johnson scored 5 and Jackson Tuoey 4 for Medina in the second quarter.
The game turned around in the third quarter. The Mustangs almost doubled their score while holding the Dragons to just two points to grab a 25-18 lead. Johnson and Tuohey both scoring four points. Matthew Kennedy and Xavier Moyer had two apiece.
The Mustangs closed out their regular season by outscoring the Dragons 6-2 in the final quarter Aiden Cherry, Steven Secore and Tuohey had two points each.
For the game Medina was led byTuohey with 12 points while Johnson added 9. Cherry, Anthony Harrington, Kennedy, Moyer and Secore had two points each.
Medina will now wait to see who they face in the first round of playoffs.
