A big second inning scoring burst sparked the Medina U14 Fillies to a 14-6 victory over Grand Island Monday in a Metro Girls Softball League semifinal round playoff game at Vets Park.

Medina grabbed a 2-1 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Abi Neuman and a wild pitch.

The Fillies then erupted for 7 runs in the decisive second inning on run producing doubles by Lacey Kenward and Brooklyn Brown along with RBI singles by Cora Payne, Brandi Guild, Ashley Howell and Morgan Allis as a triple by Camri King ignited the uprising.

Grand Island did close the gap to 9-6 but the Fillies put a lock on the win by scoring 5 times in the fifth frame on hits by King and Howell, 3 walks and 3 wild pitches.

Neuman, Kenward, King and Howell each finished with 2 hits.

Ryenn Oliver, Payne and Kenward shared the pitching duties in the circle.
The Fillies will next face either Amherst or Eden in the finals on Friday.
