Medina U12 Travel team wins in extra innings

The Medina Mustang 12U Travel team outlasted the Anjo Bombers Blue team 6-5 last night in extra innings.

In the tight contest the Mustangs and Bombers exchanged leads throughout the game.

The Mustangs gained a one run lead off a two run double by Vinny Gray in the top of the seventh.

However, the Bombers tied it up in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

Colton Smith started of the 8th inning for the Mustangs with a double, and advanced to third with a stolen base. Lukas Grimes hit him in to home to break the tie and earn the victory.

Tyler Kroening then finished off the bottom of the inning hurling 2 strikeouts to end the game.

Brody Fry pitched 5 strikeouts over 3 innings,  Grimes added 2 strikeouts over 2 innings, and Kroening pitched final 3 innings and had 6 strikeouts.

At the plate, Vinny Gray had a single and a double with 2 RBI’s, Preston Woodworth  2 singles, 1 RBI and scored 2 runs, Carter Woodworth  2 singles, RBI, and one run scored, Smith a double and scored winning run and Kroening a double and scored a run. Fry also scored a run while Grimes had game winning RBI, and Luke Duffina added a hit.

Next up for the Mustangs is a tournament this weekend in Canandaigua.
