Scoring runs in bunches, the Medina U12 Fillies romped to a 22-4 victory over Lackawanna Thursday in a Metro Girls Softball League game at Butts Park.

Ryan Olles had 3 singles, Chloe Stinson a home run and a single, Faithann Vanderwalker 2 singles and Bonnie DiCureia 1 single to lead the Fillies attack.

Trailing 2-0, the Fillies moved on top to stay by rallying for 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning on a single by Olles and sacrifices by Carina Kingsbury and Vanderwalker.

Lackawanna did pull back to within 4-3 by scoring once in the top of the second but Medina answered with a big 7 run scoring burst in the home half of the frame to break the game open. A two-run homer by Stinson highlighted that uprising which was aided by a number of walks and a single by Vanderwalker.

Walks and a single by DiCureia helped to plate 3 runs in the third for the Fillies which tacked on 6 more in the fourth on a rash of walks and a single by Vanderwalker.

Faith Oberther went the distance in the circle for the Fillies registering 6 strikeouts.

On Wednesday, the Fillies dropped a 12-2 decision to the Amherst Blue Thunder.

Trailing 1-0, Amherst used a big 8 run error aided third inning scoring burst to key the win.

Medina scored once in the first as Olles singled and came home on a passed ball and once in the forth on a sacrifice by Oberther.

Defensively, the Fillies turned a double play in the fourth inning from Iyanna King to DiCureia. Stinson also teamed up with Hannah Kenward to get the first out of the inning.
