Medina track teams score rainy sweep over Roy-Hart; Albion earns split at Wilson

Medina scored a sweep over visiting Roy-Hart this afternoon in a rain soaked Niagara-Orleans League track meet.

The Mustangs won the boys meet 73-50 and the girls competition 89-33.

Jalin Cooper was a triple winner for the Medina boys in the 100 (:11.1), 200 (:23.6) and High Jump (5-4) as Dan Heil doubled in the 400 (:56.8) and 1600 (5:05.7).

The Mustangs also had Trenton Crews win the 110 Hurdles (:18.2), Connor Miller the 400 Hurdles (1:05.4), Caelon Holland the 800 (1:05.4), Jack Hill the 3200 (10:55.4) and Will Braswell the Long Jump (16-0).

Roy-Hart’s Kaleigh Kuzma won both the 100 and 400 Hurdles.

Hill, Holland and Heil also teamed up with Alden Cayea to win the 3200 Relay (9:13.5).

For Roy-Hart, Trevor Meal won the Triple Jump (34-4) and Jarret Thompson the Pole Vault (9-0).

The Rams also captured the 400 Relay with the foursome of Anderson Zack Jenkins, Jamasen Johnson and Tyler Choate and the 1600 Relay with the quartet of Tanner Bulmer, Thompson, Johnson and Meal.

Medina is now 1-1 and Roy-Hart 1-3.

Trinity Fleck doubled in the 100 (:13.6) and 200 (:28.7) and Martha Gardner in the 800 (2:41.1) and 1500 (5:23) for the Medina girls as Maddie Williams won the Long Jump (14-1), Olivia Carter the Triple Jump (30-9) and Je’ne Brown the High Jump (4-10).

The Mustangs also won the 400 Relay with the quartet of Kharise Johnson, Katie Bilicki, Fleck and Brown and the 3200 Relay with the foursome of Sabrina Quiros, Guin Schalck, Hannah Heil and Chelsea Donley .

Kaleigh Kuzma doubled in the 100 Hurdles (:17.4) and 400 Hurdles (1:10) for Roy-Hart as Ava Bligh won the 400 (1:09.1), Anna Rickard the 3000 (12:05) and Ellie Todd the Pole Vault (6-6).

Rickard, Todd, Kuzma and Bligh also teamed up to win the 1600 Relay.

Medina stays unbeaten at 3-0 while Roy-Hart slips to 0-4.

Albion splits at Wilson
A victory in the final event by the 1600 Relay quartet of Sam Sanchez, Bril Johnson, Ugene Harrison and Lamar Chambers (3:51) earned the Albion boys a narrow 72-69 win over host Wilson.

The Purple Eagles also had Tre Yaskulski double in the 100 Hurdles (:16.8) and Triple Jump (37-1) and Tyler Nashburn in the Shot-put (37-7) and Discus (92-8) as Chambers took the 400 Hurdles (1:04), Nick Reed the 800 (2:15) and Preston Flugel the Pole Vault (10-0).

Tre Rees was a triple winner for Wilson in the 100 (:11.4), 200 (:23.1) and 400 (:57.8).

Albion is now 2-1 and Wilson 0-3.

Wilson earned a split by nipping Albion in an equally close girls meet 72 2/3-68 1/3.

Shea Munnikhuysen was a triple winner for Wilson in the Shot-put, Discus and Triple Jump.

Emma Mathes doubled for Albion in the 800 (2:46) and 1500 (5-40) as Hannah Grammar took the 400 (1:09), Alexa Adams the 3000 (12:48), Katie Rustay the Pole Vault (7-6) and Chanyce Powell the Long Jump (15-3).

Wilson is now 1-3 and Albion 0-3.

Newfane, Akron split

The Newfane boys improved to 4-0 with a 111-29 victory over Akron (0-3).

Andrew Boudeman tripled in the 100, Long Jump and Triple Jump for the Panthers as Jacob Licht doubled in the Shot-put and Discus, Sam Auernhamer in the 1600 and 3200 and Thorne Geise in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles.

The Akron girls stayed unbeaten at 3-0 with a 93-58 win over Newfane (3-1) as Leah Czechowski doubled in the 100 and Long Jump, Kata Seaquin in the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles and Abby Flattery in the Shot-put and Discus.

Kim Goerss was a double winner for Newfane in the 1500 and 3000.

More diamond rain outs

This afternoon’s steady rain washed out the stale of N-O diamond contests including Albion vs. Newfane in baseball and softball, Medina vs. Barker in baseball and vs. Roy-Hart in softball and Roy-Hart vs. Wilson in baseball. The Albion vs. Medina and Akron vs. Roy-Hart tennis matches were also postponed.
