Medina wins Unified Basketball opener
Pulling away in the second quarter, Medina downed visiting Newfane 48-34 in the Unified Basketball season opener today.
Jackson Tuohey scored 14 and Malikiah McGill 10 to lead the way for Medina. Brennan Hinckley added 8, Steven Secore and Matthew Kennedy 6 each and Eric McGill and Logan Feidner 2 each.
Breaking away from a 10-10 first quarter tie, Medina used a 12-2 second period scoring edge to open up a 22-12 half-time advantage. The Mustangs maintained a 10 point, 34-24, advantage after three quarters.
The Mustangs then closed out the win as Hinckley, Malikiah McGill and Tuohey each scored 4 in the fourth quarter.
Medina next hosts Lew-Port at 5 p.m. on May 10.
