Medina tops Maryvale in non league softball

Pounding out 18 hits, Medina outlasted Maryvale 23-14 in a non league softball game at Vets Park this afternoon.

A triple by Samantha Heschke along with doubles by Jenna Cecchini, Harmoni Wilson, Gia Howard, Peyton Allen and Molly Cook highlighted the attack for Medina which had four big scoring innings. Heschke had a total of 3 hits as Cecchini, Wilson and Howard each had 2.

The Mustangs scored 8 in the first inning, 4 in the second, 6 in the fourth and 5 in the fifth.

Savannah Jo Thompson registered 5 strikeouts in the circle in her first start for the Mustangs.

Oakfield-Alabama 10, Lyndonville 2
Nine errors proved costly as Lyndonville dropped a 10-2 decision at Oakfield-Alabama in the Lady Tigers Genesee Region League opener.

Alexa Robinson, Brooke Robinson, Emily Dill and Destinee Holmes each had a pair of hits for Lyndonville.

Elba 12, Kendall 9
Elba outlasted Kendall 12-9 in a G-R contest as Lauryn Hawkins, Madison Marks and Brea Smith each had 3 hits.

Brooke Rodas, Alea Barrett, Izzy D’Agostino and Teagan Shaw all had doubles for Kendall. D’Agostino had 2 hits.

Alexander 14, Holley 2
Skylar Gallagher, Alexis VanAmeron and Angellina Church each had 2 hits and Madison Bonacci registered 6 strikeouts in the circle for Holley in the 14-2 G-R loss to Alexander.
