Medina tops Lyndonville in volleyball opener

Medina scored a straight set 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 win over host Lyndonville in a season opening non league volleyball match this evening.
Lyndonville took a 22-18 lead late in the opening set after Emily Dill served up points 18-22.
However, Medina rallied to claim a 25-22 win as Caliyah St. Louis tied the set with a spiking kill and then Maddi Sanders served up the final three points, two of which were aces.
In the second set Medina built up a 14-7 lead as Maya Anderson served up points 5-9, including two aces, and Sam Heschke tacked on points 11-14 three of which were aces.
Heschke also registered aces for points 22 and 23 and St. Louis tacked on an ace for the set winning point.

Lyndonville grabbed an early 7-3 lead in the third set as Elena Barry served up points 2-7 one of which was an ace.
Medina though again rallied to erase an 8-5 deficit as Heschke served up 9 straight points (6-14) including 4 aces to put the Mustangs on top to stay at 14-8.
Kills by Karlee Cau and Raelynn Baker helped keep Medina up 18-12 and Heschke polished off the set and the match by registering aces for the final two points.
Heschke had a total of 10 aces on the evening as Anderson had 3, St. Louis and Sanders 2 each. Anderson had 4 kills and St. Louis and Cau 2 each. Anderson also had 3 blocks.
Hannah Fox had 3 aces and 3 kills, Bella Bresett 2 aces, Sarah Corser 2 kills, Barry 2 aces and 2 kills, Ainsley Vann 3 blocks and 1 kill and Dill 1 ace and 1 kill for Lyndonville.
