Medina tops Lyndonville in softball opener

Three big scoring innings keyed Medina to a 16-8 victory over Lyndonville in a non league season opening softball game this afternoon at Vets Park.

Medina took the lead for good at 4-1 by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning on 4 walks, 2 errors and a bunt single by Ryenn Oliver.

The Mustangs later tacked on 5 runs in both the third and fourth innings to open up a 14-3 lead.

Destiny Satkowski had a triple and Alisha Scroger a double in the third. Satkowski also had a two-run single and Emily Kams an RBI single in the fourth.

Kams, who had 4 hits on the day, also struck out 8 in four innings of work in the circle.

Aubrey Lewis had a triple and Miranda Lembcke two doubles for Lyndonville.

Newfane 11, Albion 2

Three run scoring bursts in each of the first three innings sparked Newfane to an 11-2 victory over host Albion in the Niagara-Orleans League opener.

Caitlin Chunco had 3 hits and Alexa Littman and Olivia Littman  2 each for Newfane.

In the circle, Cassidy Geise struck out 10 for the Lady Panthers.

Natalie DiCureia had a single and double and Janae Doty a two-run triple for Albion.
