The Mustangs then broke the contest wide open by exploding for a 16-0 scoring burst over the first three minutes of the third period to open up a commanding 28 point, 51-23, advantage. A slam dunk by Cooper, along with a steal and layup by Salone, highlighted that uprising. Rhim and Cooper both had a total of 6 and Salone 4 during that key stretch.

In all, Medina outpointed Barker 27-9 in the deceive period to extend the advantage to 30, 62-32, at the three-quarter mark. Cooper tallied 8, Rhim and Salone 6 each and Luthart 5 during that uprising.

Medina held a slender 14-13 lead at the end of the first period as Luckman tallied 8, including a pair of threes, to keep Barker close.
