Medina girls top Barker in tourney contest
Leading from wire to wire, Medina downed Barker 35-30 this afternoon in the consolation game of the Kendall girls basketball tournament.
Nevaeh Moss scored 11 and Honesty Hill 9 to lead the way for Medina as Ariel Smith chipped in with 6, Iyla Lilleby 5 and Angel Mulcahy 4.
Rachel Sutter tallied 11 and Keira Dalton 10 to spark Barker as Cole Carnes added 5 and Addison Szafranski and Lillia Peace 2 each.
Medina grabbed a 7-4 first quarter lead as Mulcahy had a pair of baskets.
The Mustangs went on to maintain leads of 18-12 at the half and 25-19 at the three-quarter mark. Smith had a three in both of the middle two quarters as Hill had a pair of baskets in the second period.
Dalton and Sutter both had a pair of baskets for Barker in the final period but the Lady Bulldogs could get no closer than four.
Moss had three big baskets for the Mustangs down the stretch as Hill added a basket and Lilleby a pair of free throws to help lock up the win.
Medina is now 1-1 and Barker 0-2.
