Medina tops Barker in N-O tennis opener

Medina opened Niagara-Orleans League tennis competition with a 5 1/2-0 win over visiting Barker this afternoon.

Ray Paull downed David Newton 4-1, withdrew at first singles, Haylee Seefeldt defeated Giorgio Lignola 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and Kody Leno bested Wesley Harris 6-1, 6-0 at third singles.

In the doubles matches Andrew Houseman and Jonathan Pietrafesa defeated Ella Gooding and Keith Robinson 60, 6-1; Ben Zakes and Carter Green downed Paige Sandolfini and Sandra Bautista-Lopez 6-0, 6-0 and Mark Barenca and Isaac Pace topped Thomas Jowdy and Carla Stoloski 6-1, 6-1.

Medina next visits Albion at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Albion’s match against Roy-hart was postponed until Thursday.

Akron 3 1/2, Wilson 2

Defending champion Akron downed Wilson 3 1/2-2 in the Tigers opener.

Akron swept the three singles matches with wins by Nate Chubb, Will Chubb and Morgan Wdowka.

Wilson got wins from the doubles teams of Michael Seeley-Sam Georgal and Nate Strassburg-Sierra Shepherd.
