Medina to host Newfane in lacrosse, softball sectional doubleheader on Tuesday

Medina will play host to Newfane in an interesting Section VI lacrosse, softball playoff doubleheader on Tuesday at Vets Park.

The No. 4 seeded Medina lacrosse team will host No. 5 Newfane at 4:45 p.m. in a Class D quarterfinal contest.

It will mark the first ever lacrosse meeting between the Mustangs and Panthers who are in their first year of varsity competition. The winner will visit top seeded Salamanca on Thursday in the semifinals.

The No. 5 seeded Medina softball squad will then face No. 12 Newfane at 7 p.m. in a Class B1 opener. The victor will face the winner of the No. 13 CSAT vs. No. 4 City Honors contest on Thursday.

Medina defeated Newfane twice during the Niagara-Olreans League season by scores of 15-0 and 14-2.

In another Class B1 opener on Tuesday, No. 9 Albion will visit No. 9 Tonawanda at 4 :45 p.m. The winner will visit top seeded Olean on Thursday.

In Class B2, N-O champion Roy-Hart is seeded No. 2. The Lady Rams will face the winner of the No. 10 Southwestern vs. No. 7 Olmsted game on Thursday at Vets Park.

Also in Class B2, No. 6 Wilson will host No. 11 JFK on Tuesday and No. 4 Akron will host No. 5 Cleveland Hill on Thursday.

In Class C2, No .7 Barker visits No. 2 Maple Grove on Thursday.
