Medina to host Gary Gross Memorial Wrestling Tournament Saturday
Six teams will be competing for top honors at Medina’s inaugural Gary Gross Memorial Wrestling Tournament Saturday.
Host Medina will be joined in the field by St. Joe’s, Williamsville East, Maryvale, Lockport and Wilson for the tourney which is dedicated to the memory of Gary Gross, a long-time supporter of the local wrestling program and the father of Mustangs Coach Eric Gross, who passed away in the fall of 2013.
The round-robin team tournament is scheduled to get underway at the high school at 9 a.m. with three mats in use so all six schools will be in competition each round.
Medina will face Wilson at 9 a.m. The Mustangs will then take on St. Joe’s at 10:30 a.m., Maryvale at 12 p.m., Williamsville East at 1:30 p.m. and Lockport at 3 p.m. The times for the matches after the opening round are approximate.
