Medina teams to meet for indoor soccer title

The Kenan Indoor Soccer League playoff championship game will be an all Medina affair next Saturday.

Medina 1 advanced to the finals by defeating Tony Nemi Sportsman 6-3 on Saturday.

The Medina 1 offense was led by the duo of Ashley Clack and Hannah Hamilton who scored 2 goals apiece. Owen Fraser and Elian Gonzalez each chipped in with 1 goal. Wesley Hughes picked up an assist.

Medina 2 earned a spot in the title contest by defeating MP Consruction  of Middleport 11-2 in the quarterfinals on Friday and then upsetting top seeded Mullane Motors of Lockport 6-4 in the semis on Saturday.

Caelan Holland and Nick Guay lead the charge against MP Construction with 4 goals each. Nick Albone added 2 and Coby Albone added 1 as Medina led 6-0 at the half.

The defense of Brandon Heschke, Chase McAdoo and Coby Albone along with the strong goaltending of Trevor Harewhich didn’t give up a goal until midway thru the 2nd half.

In the semis, the teams took turns scoring until Medina sealed it with an insurance goal with a little over two minutes left.

Holland and Guay lead the team again with 2 goals each while Nick Albone and Maddy Holland each added 1.

Trevor Hare made several huge saves to keep Lockport’s high powered offense off the scoreboard. McAdoo, Coby Albone and Brandon Heschke once again played outstanding on defense.

The final is slated for 11 a.m. Saturday.
