Medina takes 3 from Akron in youth football

Medina took three out of four games from Akron in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition at Vets Park Saturday.

Medina won the Mini, JV and Varsity Division games while Akron took the Beginners contest.

Mini Division
Medina Colts 18, Akron Tigers 12 (OT)
Medina got a first quarter 23 yard touchdown run from Treydin Rhim for a 6-0 lead and then a 54 yard third quarter TD run from Kendrick Russaw to make it 12-6.

However,  Akron scored in the fourth to send the game to OT.

In the overtime, after Medina held Akron to just 1 total yard on 4 plays, the Colts ran three plays ending in a 1 yard Caliyah Boston TD run for the game winner to send the Colts to 4-0 on the season.

JV Division
Medina Broncos 27, Akron Tigers 0
The Medina Broncos started a bit slowly in this one but as the game moved along the offense got rolling started off by a 52 yard rushing TD from Jerrell Nealy followed by a 2 PT conversion pass from MacKoy Hall to Colton Fletcher.

Avion Johnson scored as well on a 5 yard TD pass from Hall and MacKoy then ran in the extra point for a 15-0 lead.

Hall found Lathan McEwen-Miller for a 5 yard TD pass and then Hall got his third TD pass of the game with a 55 yard toss to Trevon Shine for the final scores as the Broncos also move to 4-0 on the season.

Varsity Division
Medina Stallions 38, Akron Tigers 0
The Medina Stallions took this one over early with 21 points in the first quarter on a 27 yard Amari Soule TD run, 35 yard Kaidon Cleveland run and a 23 yard TD pass from Cole Callard to Jacob Rissew with Callard kicking 2 extra points.

Breydin McEwen-Miller ran straight up the middle for 44 yards and a TD to make it 27-0 and then Jacob Rissew caught a 63 yard TD pass from Callard in the second half with Callard kicking another extra point to make it 35-0.

Callard closed the scoring with a 26 yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

The Stallions also are 4-0 heading into week 5 with Tri-Town coming to town.

Beginners Division
Akron Tigers 14, Medina Ponys 13
Medina got touchdown runs from Marcel Lamar of 45 and 40 yards and a Liam Skowneski extra point run but a late TD from Akron and then a 2 point pass conversion steals the win late for the Beginner Tigers.
