Medina takes 2 of 3 from Albion in youth football

Medina scored wins in two of three games against Albion in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition at Vets Park on Saturday.

The Medina Colts won the Mini Division game 18-6 and the Medina Broncos took the JV Division contest 38-7.  Albion won the Varsity Division game 32-6.

The Colts were again lead by strong defensive play including Elijah Doxey with 6 tackles and a forced fumble, Christian Moss 4 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries, Avion Johnson 2 tackles and a pick six and Jaiden Cecchini 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Jayzon Wills, Ben Doolan, Frankie Stevens, Mackoy Hall and Trevan Shine each had 2 tackles. Doolan also had a sack and Hall a fumble recovery.

Offensively, Moss had 109 yards rushing, Johnson 53 combined yards with a receiving touchdown and Shine 45 combined yards with a TD. Quarterback Preston Woodworth had 51 yards rushing and 30 passing with a TD. He also had an interception on defense.

For Albion, Noah Harrison had 71 yards rushing, Nate Gibson 46 and Wes Olles 16. Harrison also caught a 6 yard touchdown pass from Gibson. On defense, Gibson made 9 tackles, Harrison 7, Jayoanni Ostrander 5 and Olles 4. Gibson also had 2 fumble recoveries and Harrison 1.

The Broncos offense got touchdowns from  Amari Soule, Justin Pitts, Julian Woodworth, Brody Fry and Roosevelt Mitchell.  Cole Callard threw for a touchdown pass and also kicked an extra point.

For Albion, Makyell Walker had 50 yards rushing including a 29 yard TD carry, and Xavier Byrd 35 yards. Defensively, Collin Webb had 4 tackles and Walker and Jared Ostrander 3 each.

In the Varsity Division contest, Albion spread out the scoring both on the ground and in the air. Jahmeek Riley had 47 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns and Amari Jones 52 yards rushing.

Jones also had 100 yards passing with 3 touchdowns. Braxton Zarpentime had 2 touchdown receptions covering 23 and 2 yards. Javon Jones caught a 29 yard TD pass and had a two-point conversion.

Amari Jones led the defense with 7 tackles and 2 interceptions while Riley had 5 tackles and a sack, Zarpentine 5 tackles and Jabari Johnson 5 tackles and 2 sacks. Also registering sacks were Jordan Ostrander, Chris Porter and Antony Borrero.

For the Stallions, Xander Payne therew a touchdown pass to Trenton Muck and Hayden Woodroe had an interception.
