Medina swimmers sweep past Newfane; Roy-Hart bests Akron; Albion splits with Barker
Medina scored a sweep over visiting Newfane this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League swim competition. The Seahorses won the boys’ meet 120-48 and the girls’ 89-81.
The victory is the first for the Medina girls over Newfane in 11 years.
Chris Goyette doubled in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyle and Isaac Pace in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke to set the pace for the Medina boys as Ray Paull took the 200 Free and Hunter Heil the 100 Butterfly.
The Seahorses also swept the three relays as Jaxon Phillips, Pace, Dawson Brown and Pace captured the 200 Medley; Heil, Austin Tompkins, Michael Marker and Paull the 200 Free and Brown, Paull, Goyette and Heil the 400 free.
The Medina boys are now 2-1 and Newfane 0-3.
Hannah Heil was a double winner in the 50 Free and 100 Free for the Medina girls as Brooklyn Brown took the Individual Medley, Amanada Woodruff the Butterfly, Olivia Carter the Backstroke and Grace Cogovan the Breaststroke.
Carter, Cogovan, Woodruff and Heil also teamed up to win the 200 Medley Relay and Carter, Woodruff, Heil and Rebecca Lunden the 200 Free Relay.
The Medina girls improve to 2-1 and Newfane slips to 1-2.
Roy-Hart sweeps Akron
The Roy-Hart girls (3-0) took over sole possession of first place by downing Akron (2-1) 105-65.
Amanda Hill doubled in the Individual Medley and Butterfly and Kayla Hagen the 50 Free and 100 Free for Roy-Hart.
The Roy-Hart boys (2-1) also bested Akron (1-2) 108-61 as Michael Miller doubled in the Butterfly and Backstroke.
Albion, Barker split
The Albion boys stayed unbeaten at 3-0 with a 63-31 win over Barker (1-2) as Harrison Brown doubled in the 100 Free and 200 Free and Matt Kovaleski in the Individual Medley and Breaststroke.
The Barker girls (1-2) defeated Albion (0-3) 45-42 as Natalie Bruning doubled in the Individual Medley and Backstroke.
Avery Gaines doubled in the 100 Free and 200 Free and Michaela Pantano in the 50 Free and Butterfly for Albion.
