Avenging an earlier season loss, Medina put together a big second half scoring surge to defeat host Lew-Port 13-4 this afternoon in a non league lacrosse game.

Breaking away from a 3-3 half-time deadlock, Medina took charge by outscoring Lew-Port 6-0 in the decisive third period.

Kyle Barna and Tyler Valley both had a pair of goals and Jake Cotter and Nick Dipidova one each in the third to spark the Mustangs out to a 13-4 lead.

“That was the deciding quarter,” said Medina coach Gordy Luthart whose Mustangs had been defeated 15-12 by the Lancers at Vets Park earlier in the season. “This is one they really wanted because they knew that earlier game was one they should have won.”

Barna had a total of six goals and four assists. Valley finished with four goals as Andrew Wigley had the Mustangs other tally.

“There was a lot of good things in this game and that’s sign of the team’s maturing,” said Luthart.

Medina is now 6-9 on the season.
