Medina stickmen surge past Gowanda

A huge third quarter scoring surge powered Medina to a 17-5 victory over visiting Gowanda this afternoon in a Class C Division lacrosse game at Vets Park.

Leading by a narrow 5-4 margin at the half, the Mustangs exploded for nine goals in the decisive third period to take control of the contest.

Tyler Valley spearheaded that uprising with 5 goals as Nick DiPadova added 2 and Jake Cotter and Brendan Luthart 1 each.

Valley had a total of seven goals on the day, all in the second half, while Cotter netted 4, DiPadova and Luthart 2 each and Aaron Feltz and Mason Lewis 1 each.

Valley and Cotter now both have a team leading total of 17 goals on the season.

Trailing 3-1 after one period, Medina moved on top to stay by outscoring Gowanda 4-1 in the second period. Cotter netted 2 goals and Feltz and Lewis each tallied 1 during that surge which rallied the Mustangs into a 5-4 lead at the half.

Medina, which next visits East Aurora on Friday, is now 3-1 in the division and 4-1 overall.
