Roaring out to a commanding 9-1 first quarter lead, Medina went on to defeat host Wilson 20-3 this afternoon in a Class C Division lacrosse opener.

In all a total of eight players contributed goals to the attack for Medina which held leads of 14-2 at the half and 18-2 after three quarters.

“It was a good start to the season,” said Coach Gordy Luthart. “We had eight goal scorers which is the kind of balanced scoring we’re looking for. We hope that continues.”

Brendan Luthart and Jake Cotter both scored 4 goals to lead Medina’s balanced attack. Aaron Feltz, Tyler Valley and Brett Pecoraro each netted three goals as Mason Lewis, Greg Husung and Bryce Bellan each chipped in with one. Feltz also had 5 assists.

Lewis also had a big day in the face-off circle winning 14 of 15 face-offs.

“That was key,” said Coach Luthart.

Medina next visits Lew-Port on Thursday. The Mustangs will then host Lockport in a makeup game at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
