Medina stickmen down Newark
Tuning up for the upcoming sectionals, Medina posted a 16-12 victory at Newark this afternoon in a non league lacrosse game.
Brett Pecoraro had five goals, Tyler Valley four and Greg Husung three to spearhead the Medina attack. Kyle Barna added two goals and Jake Cotter and Andrew Wigley one each. Aaron Feltz also had four assists and Barna three.
Medina jumped out to a 4-2 first quarter lead on two goals by Valley and one each by Pecoraro and Wigley.
The Mustangs maintained a 7-3 advantage at the half but Newark came battling back to cut the deficit to 12-10 at the three-quarter mark.
Pecoraro had two goals to help Medina keep the lead in the third period as Valley, Cotter and Hughson each netted one.
The Mustangs then closed out the win with a 4-1 scoring edge down the stretch on two goals by Barna and one each by Valley and Pecoraro.
Medina will now take a 7-9 regular season record into the Class C sectionals which begin Friday.
