Medina stickmen down Gowanda

Building up a 9-3 half-time advantage, Medina went on to defeat host Gowanda 17-9 Friday in a Class D Division lacrosse game.

Jake Cotter erupted for 8 goals to spearhead the Medina attack as Mason Lewis netted 4, Brendan Luthart 2 and Coby Albone, Mike Carson and Christian Silversmith 1 each.

Medina jumped out to a 5-2 first period lead as Cotter had 2 goals and Albone, Carson and Silversmith 1.

Lewis then tallied 3 goals in a row in the second period to help boost the Mustangs lead to 9-3 at the half.

The Mustangs maintained a 12-6 advantage at the three-quarter mark as Cotter scored twice in the third period.

Now at 6-2 in the division and 8-2 overall, Medina next visits Brockport for a non league game on Monday.
