Medina spikers win N-O opener at Newfane
Medina opened Niagara-Orleans League volleyball competition with a straight set 25-23, 25-15, 25-18 victory at Newfane this evening.
Maddie Williams served up points 15-18 and Kharise Johnson earned the set winner to put Medina up 2-0. Williams then scored points 13-18 to help the Mustangs take the decisive third set.
Je’ne Brown had 9 kills and 3 aces, Williams 5 kills and 2 aces, Elle Gross 3 kills and Devin Griffin 3 kills and 3 aces for the Mustangs as Di’vere Brown added 8 assists and Camri King 7.
Mckenzie Perry had 11 kills and Faith Morgan 7 for Newfane which slips to 0-2.
In the other N-O action, defending champion Akron (2-0) downed visiting Albion (0-2) 25-18, 26-24, 25-12 and Roy-Hart (2-0) bested visiting Wilson (0-1) 25-15, 25-18, 25-13.
Sierra Newton had 14 digs and 6 kills and Logan Conlon 10 digs for Albion.
Aspen Moore had 23 spiking kills to spark the Roy-Hart attack. Ella Brown added 5 kills, Alyssa Kubas 3 kills, Kristina Burdick 19 service points, including 2 aces, and Emilia Peracciny 12 points, including 4 aces for the Lady Rams.
Roy-Hart next hosts Medina at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
