Medina spikers post win over Lyndonville
Building on the momentum from a close win in the opening set, Medina went on to defeat visiting Lyndonville 25-20, 25-18, 25-17 this morning in a regular season ending non league volleyball match.
Nicole Blount served up six straight points, a run which included an ace along with two spiking kills by Jenna Carpenter, to vault Medina out to a 7-1 lead in the opening set.
Two more kills by Carpenter and one by Blount, along with three straight service points by Felisha Houseman, boosted the Mustangs advantage to 16-9.
Lyndonville though closed the gap to 22-20 but could get no closer as Houseman served up an ace for point 24 and Blount registered a kill for point 25 to close out the 25-20 win.
Emily Kams then served up points 6-9 and Brittany Button 14-18 to lead the way in the second set.
Jade Kenyon scored points 3-5 and 18-20 to help close out the third set.
Blount had a total of seven kills in the match and Carpenter six.
Houseman notched five aces and Kenyon three as Kams chipped in with 11 assists.
On Friday, Lyndonville dropped a 25-9, 25-17, 25-11 decision to visiting Pembroke in the Genesee Region League season finale.
Cross-Country
Medina’s Holley Heil placed sixth and Dalton Cerbone eighth at the Clarence Invitational held today at Akron Falls Park.
