Medina spikers top Albion; Lyndonville wins
Avenging an earlier season loss, Medina bested host Albion 25-11, 25-16, 25-14 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.
Kharisa Johnson scored 18 points from the service line, including 7 aces, to lead the way for Medina. She scored points 14-24 in the first set and points 6-9 and 22-23 in the third set.
Maddie Williams also had 9 kills, Elle Gross 5 and Camri King 11 assists for the Mustangs.
Medina is now 4-5 and Albion 2-8 in N-O action.
Wilson 25-25-27, Newfane 18-21-25
Wilson downed rival Newfane in straight sets as Anna Stevenson had 4 aces and 7 assists, Sarah Nugent 6 kills and Jenn Myers 5 aces and 3 kills.
Wilson is now 5-4 and Newfane 1-9.
Lyndonville 25-25-25, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 21-8-12
Alecia Hinkson had 8 kills, 8 aces and 13 digs, Hannah Despard 8 digs and Natalie Ostrowski 9 aces and 9 assists to lead Lyndonville to a straight set victory over Oakfield-Alabama/Elba in a Genesee Region League match.
Akron 25-25-19-22-25, Roy-Hart 23-19-25-25-18
Akron outlasted host Roy-Hart in five sets to repeat as N-O volleyball champions. The Lady Tigers finish the league season at 9-1 and the Lady Rams at 8-2.
Darion Jonathan had 22 kills and 6 aces and Helena Hill 18 kills ad 3 aces for Akron which took 9 of the last 10 points in the decisive set to claim the victory and the title.
Aspen Moore had 37 kills for Roy-Hart.
