Medina scores key Midget ‘A’ League victory over Lyndonville
Moving into a share of first place, Medina blanked host Lyndonville 4-0 this evening in a key Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.
The victory leaves Medina and Lyndonville deadlocked for the top spot at 3-1.
Matt Riemer went the distance on the mound for Medina scattering six hits and striking out 12.
Lyndonville hurler Justin Edwards allowed only four hits.
Medina scored what proved to be the game winning run in the first inning as Quinton Adkins singled and came home on an error.
Two more Lyndonville errors then set up a key second inning Medina scoring burst as Adam Hoot capitalized by banging out a two run double.
Medina added an insurance run in the third as Justin Morgan singled, stole second and third and came home on an error.
Lyndonville got a quick threat going in the first inning as Ty Hrovat doubled but he was left stranded.
Likewise later in the game Lyndonville got two runners aboard in the fifth inning after singles by Michael Wells and Evan Milleville and again in the seventh following singles by AJ Buckland and Wells but on both occasions the runners were left stranded.
Wells had a total of three hits on the evening.
Medina next hosts Lockport 2 and Lyndonville visits Lockport 1 at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Roy-Hart 6, Lockport 2 5
Roy-Hart pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 6-5 victory over visiting Lockport 2 and regain the .500 mark at 2-2 in Midget ‘A’ Division action.
Roy-Hart tied the game at 5-5 on an RBI sacrifice fly by John O’Brien and then scored the game winner as CJ Fitch doubled and came home on an error.
Fitch had three hits on the evening, including two doubles. Austin Heschke also had a double for R-H.
Roy-Hart next hosts Akron at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
