Medina, Roy-Hart split in N-O track meet

Roy-Hart and host Medina both came away with a victory at a frigid Niagara-Orleans League track meet this afternoon.

Roy-Hart won the boys’ meet 72 1/2-59 1/2 and Medina took the girls’ competition 81-59.

Mark Sanders doubled in the 100 and 200 and Nathan Bower in the Shotput and Discus for the Roy-Hart boys squad which also got individual event wins from Will Rickard (400), Aaron Bacon (3200), Tyler Choate (Long Jump) and Jacob Fritton (Pole Vault).

Trenton Crews doubled in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles and Caelan Holland in the 1600 and 3200 for the Medina boys which also had Jarin Rhim win the High Jump and Hunter Heil the Triple Jump.

The Rams are now 1-1 and the Mustangs 0-2.

Devin Griffin was a double winner for the Medina girls taking the 100 Hurdles and sharing top honors in the High Jump with Roy-Hart’s Kali Scharping. The Mustangs also got wins from Eliana Stewart (100), Miranda Zelazny (Shotput), Guin Schalck (Discus), Kharise Johnson (Long Jump) and Olivia Carter (Triple Jump).

Anna Rickard doubled in the 1500 and 3000 and Kara Choate in the 200 and 400 for the Roy-Hart girls which also got wins from Amanda Hill (400 Hurdles), Colleen Ulrich (800) and McCarthy Lang (Pole Vault).

The Medina girls are now 1-1 and Roy-Hart 0-2.

Postponements
The frigid weather caused a number of postponements including the Barker vs. Kendall, Roy-Hart vs. Newfane and Lyndonville vs. Oakfield-Alabama baseball games; the Kendall vs. Lyndonville, Newfane vs. Roy-Hart and Holley vs. Attica softball games; the Roy-Hart vs. Akron tennis match and the Newfane vs. Akron track meet.
