Medina, Roy-Hart split in cross-country meet

Medina and Roy-Hart split in a Niagara-Orleans League cross-country meet this afternoon on Medina’s course.

Medina won the boys’ race 25-31 led by the 2-3-5 finish of Jack Cecchini, Ryder Jones and Brennan Allen. Roy-Hart’s Calvin Fournier won the race.

Roy-Hart took the girls’ race 20-35 sparked by the 1-3-4-5 finish of Marissa Bryant, Julia Miles, Samantha Silsby and Lilly Stanczik. Medina’s Ariel Smith finished second.

The Medina boys and Roy-Hart girls teams are now both 3-1.

The Barker boys squad stayed undefeated at 4-0 by defeating Wilson 20-38 and Albion 15-50. Wilson also downed Albion 15-45 to improve to 3-1.

Barker was led by the 1-3 finish of Mason Allee Castro and Noah Sandolfini.

The Barker girls improved to 3-1 by defeating Wilson 27-30 and Albion 23-32. Wilson also downed Albion 25-30.

Barker’s Emma Evans won the race as Wilson’s Maddy Jowdy was second.

In the other boys’ meet, Newfane (3-2) downed Akron (1-3) 26-33.

Akron’s Dawson Stone won the race as Newfane’s duo of Liam Betteridge and Aiden Gillings placed second and third.

In a key clash of unbeatens the Newfane girls improved to 4-0 by posting a 25-32 win over Akron which is now 3-1.

Newfane was paced by the 1-3 finish of Kylie Bowman and Jordan Centner. Akron’s Kaila Szczygielski placed second.
