Medina, Roy-Hart romp in N-O field hockey; Akron tips Barker in key overtime game

Medina and Roy-Hart both score lopsided wins in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey action this afternoon which was highlighted by Akron’s 2-1 overtime win over Barker in a key matchup of defending co-champions.

Medina topped visiting Kenmore 6-2 and Roy-Hart blanked Newfane 6-0.

Alexis Bell scored the game winner for Akron just two minutes into the 10 minute overtime period off an assist from Olivia Diebel.

That same combination of Diebel to Bell also clicked in the second half to rally the Lady Tigers into a 1-1 tie after Katrina Clare had scored for Barker.

Akron improves to 4-0 while Barker slips to 2-1.

Medina evened its N-O record at 2-2 as Sarah Cochrane scored 2 goals and Libby Cook, Lacey Kenward, Guin Schalck and Micaela Erway each netted 1.  Schalck also had 3 assists.

The loss drops Kenmore to 1-4.

Ashley Hill and Jenna Gioeli each scored 2 goals for Roy-Hart as Sam Choate and Lexi Lovewel both had 1. Jamie Bower earned the shutout n goal.

Roy-Hart stays perfect at 3-0 while Newfane slips to 0-4.
