Medina, Roy-Hart girls post non league wins
Medina defeated visiting Hutch-Tech 50-39 and Roy-Hart downed host Niagara Catholic 41-24 this evening in non league girls basketball games.
Leading by a narrow 32-29 margin at the three-quarter mark, Medina finally put a lock on the win by erupting for 18 points in the final period including 8 by Je’ne Brown and 6 by Maddie Williams.
Brown finished with a total of 16 points, Williams and Molley Gross 11 each, Kayla Cuadra 8 and Emily Kams 4. Williams also had 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Mustangs improve to 4-0 heading into Friday’s Niagara-Orleans League home opener against Albion.
Ellie Todd scored 13 to lead a balanced attack for Roy-Hart as Ava Bligh added 8, Maddie Fry 6, Skyler Christopher 5 and Maddy Glena 4.
In two N-O openers, defending champion Wilson downed rival Newfane 60-54 and Akron topped Barker 60-19.
Kayla Neumann had 29 points and 10 rebounds and Shea Munnikhuysen 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Wilson.
For Newfane, Paige Emborsky scored 19 and Olivia Littman 18.
Neely Abrams scored 16 and Darion Jonathan 14 to pace Akron.
In Genesee Region League action, Elba defeated Kendall 43-21 and Attica downed Holley 55-8.
