Putting together a clutch two goal rally in the final seven minutes, No. 8 seed Medina nipped No. 9 Niagara-Orleans League rival Roy-Hart 2-1 in the opening round of the Section VI Class B2 girls soccer playoffs this evening at Vets Park.

After hitting the crossbar with one shot in the first half, the post with another early in the second half and trailing 1-0, Medina finally pulled even when Destiny Satkowski scored on a shot from close range in a crowd with seven minutes remaining.

Keeping the pressure on, the Mustangs then netted the game winner when Satkowski scored her 20th goal of the season on a long line drive shot with 3:34 remaining.

Roy-Hart had grabbed a 1-0 lead when Ava Bligh scored on a long direct kick shot with five minutes to go in the first half.

The two teams had split a pair of meetings during the N-O campaign.

Medina, which is now 5-11-1, next visits top seeded Tonawanda in the quarterfinals on Wednesday in what will be a rematch of an early season encounter.

The Mustangs dropped a 5-2 decision to the Lady Warriors in the season opening semifinal round of the Tonawanda Tournament.
