Medina has shutout in N-O field hockey finale

Avenging an earlier season 3-2 loss, Medina shutout Wilson 3-0 at Vets Park this afternoon to close out the Niagara-Orleans League field hockey season with a 6-6 record.

Medina grabbed a 1-0 first half lead on a goal by Tatianna Maxon.

The Mustangs then broke the game open with a pair of third period goals by Ava Blount and Penelope Schalck on a penalty shot.

Wilson finishes the N-O season at 4-8.

In the other games, Akron completed a 12-0 championship season with a 6-0 win over Kenmore and Barker edged Roy-Hart 2-1 in a shootout.

Jordyn Kinne snd Kaylee Stoll scored goals for Barker in the shootout.

Barker’s Sophia Gerhardt and Roy-Hart’s Adella Dukes scored in regulation time.

Akron, which has now won five straight N-O titles, is 59-1 in league play during that stretch.

Final N-O Standings: Akron 12-0, Barker 9-3, Roy-Hart 7-5, Medina 6-6, Wilson 4-8, Newfane 2-10, Kenmore 2-10.
