Medina posts key win over Lyndonville to regain share of Midget ‘A’ lead
Two big scoring innings powered Medina to an 11-1 victory over host Lyndonville this evening to move back into a share of the Lockport Midget ‘A’ League lead.
Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Medina erupted for four runs in the third inning and six more in the sixth to move into a tie with Lyndonville for the league lead at 8-4.
Adam Hoot also had a big night on the mound for Medina giving up only two hits and striking out 13.
Medina moved on top to stay in the third inning on a three-run triple by Quentin Adkins and an RBI sacrifice fly by Connor Barleben. A walk, a fielders choice play and a single by Jason Hellwig loaded the bases to set up the threat.
Medina later broke the contest wide open in the sixth inning highlighted by a three-run triple by Barleben, an RBI double by Matt Riemer and a run producing single by Hellwig. Hoot helped his own cause by igniting that uprising with a double. Three straight walks then forced in the first run.
Hellwig and Riemer both finished with two hits.
Medina grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an error. Lyndonville quickly knotted the score in the home half of the first on hits by Eddy Schildt and Ty Hrovat but could not gain the lead.
Roy-Hart 3, Lockport 2 2
Trailing 2-0, Roy-Hart rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to nip visiting Lockport 2 3-2.
A two-run double by Austin Heschke highlighted that decisive uprising which also included a key single by Judd Jamieson who had two hits on the night.
Brad Wilson picked up the win on the mound scattering six hits and striking out three.
Roy-Hart improves to 5-7.
