Medina Ponys win NOFA playoff title
Avenging their only loss the Medina Ponys defeated Barker/Roy-Hart 25-6 Saturday in the Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) Beginners Division playoff championship game.
The Ponys wasted no time showing they were there to play this time as Damareon Shine took the first hand off of the game for a 60 yard TD run and a 6-0 lead.
Barker/Roy-Hart got the ball back and went for it on 4th down at their own 40 yard line but were stopped turning the ball over on downs.
The Ponys pulled out the bag of tricks for the next play as Shine gave the ball to Remi Avery on the reverse and Avery went 40 yards for the TD. Luke Hungerford ran the extra point in for a 13-0 lead.
The second quarter was more of the same as the Ponys defense continued to shut down the Rams offense and Shine scampered 67 yards for a TD and a 19-0 lead.
The Ponys stopped the Rams just before half time and then again early in the third quarter and Shine got loose one more time for 66 yards this time and a 25-0 lead.
The Rams finally broke through in the 4th quarter to make it 25-6.
