This past weekend Medina placed second in Somerset’s annual 10u wooden bat tournament.  Medina won three of their 5 games beating Lyndonville twice and Wilson once and losing to eventual winners Somerset.

Leading the team at the plate were  Timmy Vasquez with eight hits and  Sawyer Lilleby, Hadrian Batista and Max Pilon each with seven.  Batista’s hits included a home run and Lathan McEwen-Miller had a big grand slam.

On the mound every pitcher did well.  Vasquez and Batista pitched in three games each.  Lilleby, McEwen-Miller, Joe Reese, Steven Gobeli and Shane Fearby also pitched well.

“These kids did better than I ever could’ve imagined.  They played their hearts out,” said Coach Matt Fearby.  “Of the 12 kids I had here nine of them are either 8 or 9 years old.  Playing with older kids, different rules, wooden bats.  These kids came out and played their game and played it well.  Thank you to all the kids for participating, coaches for helping me out and Medina LOYAL baseball for allowing us to play ball.”
