MIDDLEPORT – Coming up big defensively at the end, Medina edged past Roy-Hart 2-1 this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey action.

Medina goalie Hallie Seaman and her defensive mates stopped no less than six Roy-Hart corner opportunities in the hectic final three minutes to preserve the victory.

Medina jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first four minutes as Kelsey Evoy scored off an assist from Mallori Wienke.

However, Roy-Hart answered right back with the equalizer two minutes later as Kelsey Eldridge tallied from Deanna Catalano. But the Lady Rams could not dent the cage again.

Medina scored what proved to be the game winner with 10 minutes to go in the second half as that same combination of Evoy from Wienke clicked again.

Medina is now 2-7 and Roy-Hart 0-9.
