Medina nips Albion in pitchers’ duel

Pitching was the name of the game as Medina nipped host Albion 1-0 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.
Trevor Luthart pitched a 1 hitter with 9 strikeouts for Medina while Bryce Pritchard hurled a 3 hitter with 6 strikeouts for Albion.
Medina scored the game’s lone run in the third inning on an error.
Brett Riemer had a triple in the sixth inning and Ricky Pitts a double in the fifth for the Mustangs but both were left stranded.
Medina is now 3-5 and Albion 6-4 in N-O competition.

Barker 5, Wilson 3
Barker rebounded from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Wilson 5-3 and regain the .500 mark at 4-4 in N-O action.
Barker pulled even by scoring 3 times in the fourth on a pair of errors and a sacrifice fly by Preston Harris.
The Raiders added one run in the fifth on 2 walks and a suicide squeeze by Kyle MaDonald and one in the sixth on a single by Dan Engert and a sacrifice bunt by Austin Sullivan.
Cole Hanssen came on to pitch 3 key innings of relief for the Raiders allowing 3 hits and striking out 5.
The loss drops Wilson to 6-2 and out of first place as Roy-Hart, which drew the bye today, takes over the top spot at 5-1.
Newfane 7, Akron 6
Newfane snapped a season long seven league game losing streak by nipping Akron (3-5) 7-6 with a run in the 7th as David Bunn doubled and came home on a single by Garrett Srock. Bunn, Srock and Matt DiTullio each had a pair of hits on the day.
