Medina edged past visiting Albion 6-5 this evening in a Lockport Midget ‘B’ League game.

Snapping a 5-5 tie, Medina regained the lead for good on a solo home run by Ethan Kujawa in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Medina defense then got two nice plays for outs by Chase McAdoo at second base and one by Alex Allis at shortstop on hard hit balls in the top of the seventh to preserve the narrow win.

Medina had jumped out to an early 4-1 lead by scoring four times in the bottom of the second inning highlighted by a two-run single by Bryce Seldon and ignited by four straight walks.

Medina’s Ethan Kujawa scores what proved to be the game winning home run ahead of a tag by Albion catcher Ben Restivo as Owen Frasier gives the safe sign.

However, Albion battled back into a 5-5 tie after scoring twice in the fourth inning on a fielders choice play, a double by Kirk Ellison and an error, and twice in the fifth on three walks, a wild pitch and an error.

Medina though wasted little time in regaining the lead for good as Kujawa belted a home run to centerfield in the bottom of the fifth.

Owen Frasier pitched the first four innings for Medina allowing 3 hits and striking out 8. Frasier also banged out two hits including a double. Seldon came on to hurl the final three frames giving up no hits and striking out 2.
