Medina netters top Albion in N-O opener

A sweep of the three singles matches keyed defending champion Medina to a 4.5-1 victory over host Albion this afternoon in the Niagara-Orleans League season opener.

In the other N-O openers, Roy-Hart trimmed Newfane 3-2.5 and Akron downed Wilson 4.5-1.

In scoring singles victories for Medina Mike Cardone downed Matt Kovaleski 6-4, 7-5; Nick Bogan defeated Connor McQuillan 6-0, 7-6 and Kyla Leno bested Donato Rosario 6-4, 6-2.

The Mustangs also had Ray Paull and Toby Kiebala defeat Kastriot Bela and Freeman Lattin 6-1, 7-6 at second doubles and Brandon Harris and Able Zavitz down Lionel Rosario and Angel Rosario 6-3, 6-1 at third doubles.

Albion’s first doubles team of Owen Foos and Victor Benjovsky downed the Medina duo of Andrew Fuller and Cody Leno 6-2, 6-4.
