Medina netters earn key win over Akron

Taking over sole possession of first place, defending champion Medina downed visiting Akron 3 1/2-2 this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans League tennis match.

A straight set win at second singles by Nick Bogan, 6-3, 7-5 over Jacob Meyer, provided the margin of victory for Medina which improves to 4-0.

The Mustangs also scored a sweep of the three doubles matches as Toby Kiebala and Ray Paull defeated Morgan Wdowka and Will Chubb 6-4, 6-1; Able Zavitz and Andrew Fuller downed Dustin Earle and Alex Warren 6-2, 6-1; and Aeddon Cayea and Kody Leno bested Eliza Papke and Skyler Earle 6-1, 7-6.

Akron, which slips to 3-1, got wins at first singles by Nick Chubb, 6-2, 6-1 over Mike Cardone, and at third singles by Sierra Janis, 6-1, 6-2 over Kyla Leno.

In the other N-O matches, Barker (1-3) defeated Roy-Hart (1-2) 3 1/2-2 and Wilson (3-1) downed Newfane (0-5) 5 1/2-0.

Barker got wins from Jake Meister at second singles and Zander Israel at third singles as well as by the duos of Nick Sutch-Christian Young at first doubles and Jake Harris -Grace Harris at third doubles.

Wins by the singles trio of Collin Lyon, Mike Pazik and Alex Courturier led the way for Wilson which also got victories by the doubles teams of Joey Moote-Max Faery, Mia Olear-Alyssa Smith and Rebecca Connors- Georgia Gray.
