Medina netters clinch tie for N-O title as Akron nips Albion

Akron nipped defending champion Albion 3-2 1/2 this afternoon enabling Medina to clinch at least a tie for the Niagara-Orleans League tennis title.

Albion finishes the season at 10-2 while Medina takes a 10-1 record into Wednesday’s finale against Wilson.

Akron improves to 8-3 with one match remaining against Roy-Hart on Tuesday.

In the other N-O matches, Wilson (5-5) defeated rival Newfane (4-7) 4 1/2-1 and Roy-Hart (2-9) downed Barker (0-12) 4 1/2-1.

Holley improved to 8-2 in Genesee Region League action with a 5-0 win over Pembroke led by singles victories by the trio of Brady Smith, Pablo Romero and Cameron Bennage.

The Hawks also got wins by the doubles teams of Gabe Mendoza-Melanie Klossner and Derek McArthur-Jake Desimone.

Golf

Notre Dame 292, Kendall 301
Evan Gaesser took medalist honors with a 39 and Jake Adams had a 43 for Kendall in the Eagles 292-301 loss to Notre Dame.

G-R Track

The Kendall girls earned a split in a Genesee Region League tri-meet defeating Notre Dame 98.5-40.5 and losing to Byron-Bergen 89-52. Taylor ReQua was a double winner for the Lady Eagles in the 100 and 200.

The Kendall boys lost 101-35 to Notre Dame and 118-22 to Byron-Bergen.
