Medina netters clinch tie for N-O title

Staying perfect at 10-0, Medina clinched at least a tie for a third straight Niagara-Orleans League tennis championship by completing a 3.5-2 victory over Wilson Friday.

Ben Howell scored a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Isaiah Barrett at first singles to lock up the victory and at least a share of the title for Medina.

The Mustangs also took the second singles match as Kristian Snyder downed Nate Johnson 6-2, 6-2.

Medina also got points at second doubles as Nate Pace and Carson Zygoda defeated Joe Hecko and Kallie Olear 6-4, 6-2 and a third doubles as Tom Horgan and Nick Dieter downed Michaela Goodnight and Mary Ann Brecht 6-3, 6-1.

Runenr-up Wilson, which slips to 9-2, took the third singles as Dominic Curcione downed Chris Keller 6-0, 6-0 and the first doubles as Gabe Curcione and Alex Keil bested Brian Bogan and Tristan Sanders 7-5, 6-4.
