Medina nets key win over Akron

Grabbing a half game lead in the tight title race, Medina downed visiting Akron 3 1/2-2 this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans League tennis match.

Medina improves to 10-1 and moves a half game ahead of defending champion Albion which is at 9-1.

The Mustangs will close out the regular season against Wilson next Wednesday while the Purple Eagles have two matches remaining, against Barker on Friday and Akron on Monday.

The loss drops Akron to 7-3 and out of title contention.

A come-from-behind three set win at first doubles by Mike Cardone and Kyla Leno highlighted the Medina victory.

The Mustangs also got straight set wins by Kristian Snyder at first singles and by the doubles teams of Nick Bogan-Ray Paull and Brandon Harris-Xion Baes.
