Medina Mustangs FC caps off regular season title campaign with shutout win

Capping off a near perfect regular season, the Medina Mustangs FC shutout runner-up Mandem FC 2-0 in a Buffalo District Soccer League 1st Division game Sunday evening at Vets Park.
Medina, which had already locked up the 1st Division championship, finishes the regular season with a 9-0-1 record while Mandem winds up at 6-1-3.
The Mustangs grabbed an early 1-0 lead as Kyan Mathieu scored on a line drive shot off a nifty assist from Greg Husung.
Peter Martillotta later scored a big insurance goal midway through the second half as Casey Winiecki earned the assist.
Tyler Ribbeck earned the shutout in goal as Caleb Suckow and Zak Rowekamp both had solid defensive games.
Medina will next host a 1st Division semifinal round playoff game on August 3.
