Medina man, 56, killed in motor vehicle accident on 31A in Barre
BARRE – A Medina man was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Monday on Route 31A in Barre.
Timothy R. Sands, 56, of Medina was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a passenger in a 2019 Honda Odyssey minivan driven by Todd D. Sands, 56, of Medina.
Sheriff Chris Bourke said the vehicle was heading eastbound on 31A when it went off the south shoulder of the road. It then came back across both lanes of traffic and exited the north side of the road where it struck a tree.
Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle, Bourke said. Todd Sands, the driver, was transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
“The accident remains under investigation and alcohol is being looked at as a possible contributing factor,” Bourke said.
