Medina/Lyndonville booters blank Wilson to hold N-O lead
Pulling away in the second half, Medina/Lyndonville bested Wilson 4-0 this afternoon at Vets Park to maintain sole possession of the Niagara-Orleans League soccer lead.
Medina/Lyndonville grabbed an early 1-0 lead as Kristian Snyder scored what proved to be the game winner just nine minutes in off an assist from James Ianni.
It remained a tight 1-0 game until 10 minutes into the second half when Aaron Feltz scored off an assist from Vassilios Bitsas to give the Mustangs a little breathing room.
Medina/Lyndonville then capped off the victory with a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes as Brian Anderson scored from Feltz and Steven Anderson tallied on a header off a throw-in by Ianni.
“They are playing very well right now,” said Medina/Lyndonville coach Steve Luksch whose Mustangs improve to 7-1 in N-O action.
The loss drops Wilson two games off the pace at 6-3.
Medina/Lyndonville next visits Akron at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Akron 2, Albion 1
Tyler Joens and Bryan Witbeck each scored a goal for Akron (4-3) in the Tigers narrow 2-1 win over Albion (2-7).
Jacob Leggat netted Albion’s lone goal.
Newfane 3, Roy-Hart 2
Chad Gilson scored two goals and Jon George one to lead Newfane (6-3) to a 3-2 win over Roy-Hart (4-4).
James DeLorenzo and Joe Frazier each scored a goal for Roy-Hart.
